Meeting with the players and technical staff at Jua Hotel ahead of the new season, the management of PWD Bamenda has promised a raft of changes to better the conditions of players and technical and administration staff in the club.
This includes amongst others the paying of monthly salaries, opening of bank accounts for all registered players and staff in the club, the putting in place of an insurance scheme to cover training and travelling related injuries, the equipment of the players hostel, the provision of training materials to all players, the provision of official out fit for the players including a pair of sneakers, two pairs of training booths for each player for the season, a new 50 plus seater bus and a modern gymnasium for the players fitness. Others future plans include feasibility studies for a PWD Modern Sports Complex to be realised in 24 months.
According to the President General, Pascal Abunde, the changes start immediately and the administrative staff have been instructed to implement them to the fullest.
Each player beside a bank account will also have a visa card, benefit from online banking and SMS services. Each of the players will also received instant payment for the first set of training boots on Saturday 18 February 2022 and the send pair during the mid season break.
President Abunde called for judicious use of the materials that will be handed over to them and call for professionalism in everything they do. He said as president of the Association of Elite Clubs , he has entered into a commitment with the Syndicate of Professional Players to better the status of Elite players in Cameroon and he intends to use PWD as an example.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Gondi Bomba Vincent thanked management for the new changes and promised that the players will continue to put in their most for the glory of the team. He promised management that if they stand by the players, they will put their lives on the line for the cup of Cameroon.
PWD Bamenda is due to play the finals of the Cup of Cameroon in the days ahead, before the kick off of the football season I Cameroon.
